Life changes
As a small child, making friends is super easy. As toddlers, we connect, sometimes over a toy or a giggle on the slide. Just a name and liking the same playground games can make a bond. Those friendships feel like the most important things.
As we get older, the school grounds turn into a place with tons of potential friends. Classmates become lunch buddies, best friends, and even people we visit, making our social lives bigger and bringing in new people all the time.
Then we start working and things change. We might still see our school friends on social media, but work, family, or hobbies often take up our time and energy. We don’t talk as much, and see each other less often.
And retirement comes, and our friend groups get even smaller. We forget some who were close, as some move away, and others pass away.
Through life changes, we all need to feel connected and feel like we belong. It’s so nice to know that someone remembers us. A home visit, phone call, text message, or even a card can really help those friendships stay strong. Even if we can’t be together, knowing our friends care and remember us makes life more enjoyable and fulfilling.
